Cultura Italiana is a centre of Italian language and culture. It organizes Italian language courses in Bologna (North Italy), Manciano – Maremma (South Tuscany) and Arezzo (Central Tuscany).The schools are situated in towns far away from mass tourism, where it is easy to make contact with the Italian people. The school is legally recognised by the “Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione” (Government Department of Education) as a “school of Italian Language for Foreigners”, and it is a member of ASILS, the Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language, and a centre for the preparation for Siena University’s certificate of Italian as a Second Language (CILS). Manciano is an idyllic and lively town in Tuscany which dominates a vast plain from a top of a hill up to the see.

Courses:
The courses begin on Monday with the classification test for 10 different levels and last 4,3,2 or 6, 8, 12 weeks. These courses consist of 20 lesson-hours plus 6 hours of extracurricular programme per week. Classes take place either in the morning between 9.00 a.m. and 12.40 p.m. or in the afternoon between 1 p.m. and 4.40 p.m. There are four classes each of 50 minutes, with a 20 minute break in the middle. During the first half of the morning or afternoon one teacher gives lessons on grammar structure and vocabulary; during the second part another concentrates on expression and communication. Besides the normal classes of 6-12 students the school also offers classes with 3-5 or 2 participants and individual classes. At the end of the course the participant receives a certificate.

A special reservation service, run by the School free of charge, finds and books rooms for the duration of the courses, i.e. from the Sunday of the arrival to the Saturday of the departure. A list of restaurants with good food and reasonable prices is given to each student.

Regular activities:  The selection of the programme’s activities is adapted according to the students’ interests and follows four general topics: a. The town b. Art, history and music c. Environment d. Current events The aim of the various activities is to facilitate and encourage contacts between the participants in the course and their Italian environment, and to provide a general understanding of contemporary Italy. Bologna Arezzo and Manciano-Maremma are ideal places to learn Italian. It is easy to make contact with the people in these cities, in which most Italians would prefer to live because of their respect of the quality of social relations.
Possible activities: 
In Manciano-Maremma : trips to Saturnia, Montemerano, Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana, Tuscania, Tarquinia, Orbetello, Vulci, Fiora and Albegna River, Siena, Viterbo, Cathedral of Orvieto with the paintings of Luca Signorelli, visit to a sheep-farm, a firm making high-quality cheese, Etruscan session with archaeologists.
