| Our English Language School is in the middle of our main campus and it is easy for our language students to meet other international and local New Zealand students and practise their English. The use of Language Laboratory (supervised independent learning facility) is free of charge. Well-qualified and very professional tutors are employed. We have a long tradition and great reputation. We are official examination centre for the University of Cambridge ESOL exams (FCE, CAE). You have free and unlimited Internet access with 300 computers to use. We have a modern Library Learning Centre as well as a Cafeteria and Recreation Centre. |

Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) was established in 1904 and is the largest training and education provider in the upper South Island of New Zealand. A wide range of vocational and academic programmes at certificate, diploma and degree level attracts to NMIT every year over 7000 full-time and part-time students as well as up to 500 international students from all around the world. Facilities and Services
NMIT has excellent facilities. Our modern purpose-built Library Learning Centre has a well equipped computer centre with free & unlimited Internet access. There is friendly Study Support staff to help students with English, computing, mathematics and to provide general academic support. Our Student Centre has a cafeteria, recreation centre and a student lounge.
• NMIT International Education Services will advise students on how to achieve their personal and academic goals. We arrange initial orientation programme, help with student visa applications and we meet all our international students at the airport on arrival
• NMIT Recreation Coordinator will arrange weekend activities and put students in contact with sports teams in town
• NMIT Health Centre has a nurse and student counsellors to provide any health related advice if needed

You will develop reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary skills to achieve the level of knowledge you require. English courses vary in the level of entry, length of course, and qualifications gained. Our average class size is 12 - 15 students.
Many international students are studying to meet entry requirements for our mainstream programmes. It is possible to transfer from the English Language School to academic programmes provided you meet the English proficiency and academic entry criteria.
NMIT’s English Language School has developed a great reputation for its quality academic programmes. Located in the heart of our Nelson campus, you will have many opportunities to mix with New Zealand students and use our extensive facilities.
