American Language Programs, Inc. - New York

American Language Programs is a private homestay program wherein students stay in the homes of their American teachers. There, they receive individualized teaching according to their level of ability in English. The emphasis of our program is that students have the opportunity to “practice what is preached!” In other words, their entire stay is practice in using English. Their teacher and homestay host is a very qualified teacher usually with many years of training/experience and one or more academic degrees from well-known American colleges or universities. Students become immersed in the daily lives of their family and practice English their entire stay. Lessons are private (one-on-one) and scheduled at the discretion of teacher/student. Meals and trips are with the teacher and his/her family. This method of perfecting a second language has proven to be very successful. Numerous studies support this. New York City/Greater New Jersey Area ALP-NY/NJ welcomes you to New York City – The Big Apple - and the surrounding areas! You will be delighted by this unique learning experience where some of the brightest minds in America reside. So many foreigners come here just to see this great city -- what a time you will have in studying and living here for some weeks on your ALP program! Here are some things to do while in the home of your teacher: After taking in a performance in the world-renowned “theater district” where you can see dozens of wonderful plays performed by Off Broadway and Broadway actors, you can walk to nearby “restaurant row” and whet your appetite at any one of the dozens of fine restaurants. Visit a museum, stroll Central Park, take a dinner cruise on the Hudson River or take a tour of the Empire State Building. In New York City, you will never run out of places of interest or activities! If you desire a trip outside of the City, travel by car, bus, or train, to the “Jersey Shore” where you will indulge in boardwalks, fine beaches, and fantastic seafood restaurants. Standard: Our most popular program, the Standard Program is designed for an eager teenage student, young adult employee or the retired executive. ALP allows flexible, private teaching hours of 15, 20, or 25 hours English study per week/family with homestay/meals included. Additionally, students receive one excursion per week to a nearby area attractions with their host family. Business & Specialized Vocabulary: This program is designed for the busy executive/professional. Teachers employ specialized vocabulary and teaching aids to better familiarize the student with our American corporate scheme. This accommodation includes the above standard accommodation as well as specialized vocabulary, instruction, and opportunity to participate in and witness first hand American business culture whenever possible. The accommodations are slightly better than in the standard booking and it is prime for professionals in any field. Deluxe/4-Star: The ALP Deluxe Program is the most prestigious accommodation possible at an affordable price. The deluxe accommodation includes the above standard and business & specialized vocabulary programs while also offering the finest accommodations and meals. Students can enjoy private bath/shower as well as a prime location with this program. Gourmet dinners, meeting interesting people, and more sightseeing are only a few of the advantages of our Deluxe Program.

Lessons are offered at the convenience and agreement of both student and teacher. The family provides all meals plus they offer a minimum of one excursion per week.
