Facilities & Services
Elsis occupies two floors in a building close to all the attraction points of Sydney, being equipped with 14 classrooms. On each floor there is a common student room where students can watch TV, access the Internet for free, play pool, relax on the comfortable couches provided. Also, each floor is equipped with a kitchen where students can use microwaves, refrigerators, toasters, kettles, etc where they can have lunch. Accommodation ELSIS offers a range of accommodation from hostel to self-contained units. Our most popular style of budget accommodation is homestay, where you have the oppourtunity to practice your English with an Australian family at home as well as study English at the school. This gives you a great oppourtunity to learn first hand about the Australian way of life and to establish new friendships. Homestay usually includes a single furnished room, breakfast and dinner on week-days and three meals on the weekends. Airport pick-up If you choose this service, an ELSIS representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your selected accommodation. Elsis Work Club A service for ELSIS students on a Student Visa or a Working Holiday Visa. Studying at ELSIS is more than just a classroom experience. Many students gain a lot of useful experience outside of the school during their time in Sydney. This can be on organized social activities, socializing with your new international friend, or working. Working while you study is a great way to meet people, practice your English and earn some money too. ELSIS offers a service – ELSIS WORK CLUB – for students who would like help in getting ready to find work and actually finding suitable work. Social Activities While you are studying at ELSIS, you will have many oppourtunities to socialise with other students in regular activities organised by the ‘Social Club’ after school or full-day excursion on weekends. Activities include social and sporting activities and sighseeing tours to major attractions such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Sydney Tower, Manly and Bondi beaches, Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley. Academic Counseling Many students who study English at ELSIS want to proceed to further study here in Australia. The range of study options can be too much and students find it hard to know what is best for them. For this reason ELSIS offers all students an Academic Counselling service. This is a one-to-one consultation service for students to discuss with an advisor the options that are available and what would best suit their objectives and budget. ELSIS charges nothing for this service and students find it very useful to focus their efforts and learn about the range of study pathways. Student Councellor ELSIS has a student services counsellor to ensure from the moment you arrive in Australia, all your personal needs and welfare are attended to

ELSIS and all its courses are accredited by the National ELT Accreditation Scheme Limited (NEAS) - Australia’s national accreditation scheme for English Language Teaching centres. ELSIS and all its courses are also listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) with provider number 02644C. ELSIS is thus approved to accept overseas students. Furthermore, as a registered provider, ELSIS is required to comply with the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students (the National Code). After English ability is assessed on arrival at the College, you will be placed into the class appropriate to your level. Our classes range from Beginners to Advanced. You will receive twenty hours face-to-face tuition per week. Our General English course is recommended as a first step in language learning. For those just starting out with English, General English gives you a solid grounding in grammar and you improve your social and functional communication. General English is practical and uses everyday situations in which to improve your communicative skills. Cultural situations are learned and students learn a lot of new vocabulary as well as idioms and colloquialisms. It is also a lot of fun. Individual Tutorials ELSIS offers ‘free’ tutorial lessons each week. The lessons are for full-time students and each lesson is 15 minutes with only one student per class. Times run from 2:30 to 3:15. The lessons are decided not by the teacher but by you. So you tell the teacher what you want to do for 15 minutes. For example you may want the teacher to help you with speaking practice or explain some grammar or vocabulary which you have studied in the morning class. Or maybe you are interested in one-on-one pronunciation practice or just some information about Australian culture. Whatever the reason this is a wonderful opportunity for you. IELTS and Cambridge prepares students for external examinations. IELTS Preparation Course This is a 12-week examination course which prepares students for the internationally recognised International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination. The course includes authentic IELTS-style examinations which students take every 3 weeks of the course. CAMBRIDGE Cambridge courses are excellent if you need a formal English language qualification. It is recognized by employers, colleges and universities (especially in Europe and South America). The classes prepare you for the examinations which are conducted by the University of Cambridge. BEC The Business English Certificate course prepares students for the BEC Vantage test which is aimed at people preparing for a career in business whose level of English is intermediate to upper intermediate. BEC Vantage assesses language ability used in the context of business at the Council of Europe’s Vantage Level (B2) for general language proficiency, which is Level 1 in the UK National Qualifications Framework. Students who wish to enroll for EAP will have as their specific study objective to join a college or university for further study. The focus of an EAP course is developing the skills areas in English, which the student will require to study alongside native speakers in mainstream course areas. Accommodations Choosing the right accommodation is as important as choosing a school. The English Language School in Sydney ( Elsis ) offers different options to meet the needs of all of our students. Some students prefer the comfort and security of a homestay during their trip to Sydney, while others like the adventure of being on their own. The English Language Scholl in Sydney ( Elsis ) offers two choices of accommodation in Sydney: Homestay and Residence. Homestay Program Our most popular style of accommodation is Homestay, where you have the opportunity to practice your English with an Australian family at home as well as study English at the school. We provide a variety of Homestay family types including: retired couples, single professional people, and families with children or families with teenagers. This gives you a great opportunity to learn first hand about the Australian way of life and to establish new friendships. Homestay usually includes a single furnished room, two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) during weekdays and three meals a day on the weekends. You can book for at least 4 weeks. The maximum booking length is for 6 months. Before you come to Australia, we will send you the family profile of your Homestay. It will help you to know them before you arrive. Residence For students who would like more independence, and a chance to socialize with friends from all around the world, do your own cooking, meet with a small group of other international students, learn from each other, become a member of a large “Family”. We can arranged residence for you. Single rooms or double rooms available. A live-in supervisor can make sure you receive personal attention.
