Students may sign out audio tapes or use the computers during open lab times. All ILSC campuses, classrooms and facilities are wheelchair accessible. Our First Principle is that learning works very well when it is student-centered. We assume that you will be motivated to learn about things that personally interest you. Your dreams, interests and goals are as important as anyone else’s, and that includes the teacher. The combination of a set curriculum structure and the flexibility to accommodate each student’s special interests gives learning the freedom to flourish. The Second Principle is that learning works better when it is made a part of the experiences of daily life. Language courses at ILSC immerse you in these real world experiences with role playing, field trips, computer use and group learning activities. You learn to speak and write English or French in real world situations with teachers who are responsive to your personal needs and interests. The Third Principle is that people learn best when they are confident, at ease and happy. There is a great learning atmosphere at ILSC. We are a very friendly school and we encourage a positive sense of community where you are at ease to converse with others in English or French and develop friendships. In such a setting, you will find that language learning happens in a very natural and effective way. To ensure that the above three principles will best assist your learning process, your ILSC teacher functions as a: Modeller of language: Your teacher is always assisting you to improve your English language skills in a positive, supportive manner. Resource person: You can count on ILSC teachers and counsellors to give of their time and energy to help you with all aspects of living and learning. Facilitator: ILSC staff are enthusiastic and always coming up with innovative ways to improve group and individual learning processes. Co-designer, with students, of learning activities. Coach, mentor and friend.

We invite you to come and discover Toronto, the heart of Canada’s business and cultural life. Toronto is the nation’s leading centre for finance, art, publishing, theatre, music, film and sports and pulses with the international energy of five million people. Home to a mosaic of cultures, Toronto boasts several annual multicultural festivals and choice spots for shopping and eating include Little Italy, Little India, Little Portugal, Chinatown and Greektown. Visit the CN Tower, strap on rollerblades and cruise the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail or take a drive to Niagara Falls. Whether you choose to visit major attractions or head off the beaten path to vintage clothing shops at Kensington Market, Toronto is the perfect getaway for city-lovers who want to learn English at the International Language Schools of Canada! The climate in Toronto is similar to many American cities, including New York and Chicago. In the summer (June-August), the average temperature is 20.7ºC soothed by the cool breezes of Lake Ontario. In the winter months (December-February), temperatures may dip well below freezing with an average of 3.3ºC, but an average snowfall of 53 inches makes for a winter wonderland rather than a city in a deep freeze. Cold weather...hot times at ILSC-Toronto! Winter in Ontario is a season of special activities and unique beauty. The endless things to do and see are affordable and close at hand. Hit the slopes or go dogsledding then warm up to a crackling log fire and a steaming hot cocoa at the end of the day. Have you ever been ice-climbing or snowshoeing? How about sugaring off? In Ontario, you will enjoy winter festivals, carnivals, and parades, caroling, hockey and a whole lot more! You won’t be staying indoors too much!
