LINGUA IT is a school that specialises in teaching Italian language to foreigners. The school’s primary objective is to immerse students in the real language and culture of Italy. Studying Italian in Italy brings with it the unique opportunity to listen, speak and live the actual language, using the native terms and expressions as they are used by Italians. Using mass media and a variety of other textual stimuli, the teachers at LINGUA IT combine the best possible teaching methods with an active immersion in Italian culture to give students a total exposure to the Italian language. The school offers a vast range of both language and cultural courses and students can tailor their study program to best suit their needs, choosing from either group classes or private lessons and intensive or part-time courses. LINGUA IT is located in the historical centre of Verona just a short walk from Piazza Erbe and the most important monuments of the city. It is close to all services and is easily reached by public transport.

The Location

Town: Verona (250000 inh.)

Nearest city: ( inh.)
km distance
Verona is found in the Veneto region of Italy, an area equally rich in beautiful landscapes (the Dolomite Mountains, Lake Garda, the Lombardy Plain countryside, the Venice Lagoon, the Adriatic Sea,) as it is in great cities of art and culture (Verona and its extensive Roman history, Vicenza and the villas of Andrea Palladio, Padova and the frescoes of Giotto, Treviso and, of course, the magical Venice). Verona boasts an enviable geographic position, strategically placed at the crossroads between Northern Europe and the Mediterranean countries of the south. It enjoys a pleasant climate year-round with four distinct seasons. The territory surrounding Verona is dominated by the River Adige (gracefully braiding its way through the city with gentle curves) and the low, undulating foothills of the Dolomites that ramble off into the horizon.

Classes in all Standard Language Courses are held from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, Mondays through Fridays. The first three hours are principally dedicated to grammar and syntax skills while the last hour is dedicated primarily to conversation and communication skills. Each 4-hour morning session includes two short breaks totalling 20 minutes. Included in the Standard Language Course are two weekly afternoon activities: a guided tour of Verona with an Art History professor and the screening of an Italian film at the school. On the first day of school all students (beginners excluded) sit a short test to ascertain which course level is most appropriate for them. Students also take a test at the completion of each language course level to evaluate their progress and determine whether they are ready to move on to the succeeding level. There are six standard language course levels, ranging from a course for absolute beginners to a proficiency perfection course.
