Brighton, often called London-by-the Sea, is one of Britain's most exciting cities offering a beautiful, seaside location, great shopping and excellent restaurants. In the centre of it all there is the famous Royal Pavilion commissioned by King George IV in 1815 where Indian architecture contrasts with interiors inspired by China. Brighton's cultural scene is vibrant with numerous art galleries and theatres. Many new plays are first staged in the charming Theatre Royal, established in 1807, before they move to the West End of London.
In the mid-18th century as sea bathing became fashionable, Brighton was transformed into England's first seaside resort. The flagship of the Brighton seafront is the Brighton Pier, built in 1899. This typical late-Victorian pier now caters for today's visitor with amusement arcades and fun rides. A paradise for shoppers, the Brighton Lanes is a charming maze of cobbled streets and old fishermen's cottages which have now been converted into shops, cafes and restaurants. In the evening, some of the cosiest pubs, trendiest bars and funkiest night clubs are found here. Brighton offers the best of both worlds as you can study and live by the sea in less expensive Brighton, while London is only 50 minutes away by express train.

The best way to practise your English and learn more about the traditions and way of life in the country where you are studying is to stay with a family. This also gives you plenty of opportunity to practise the language outside the classroom in an English speaking environment. EC's host families are all chosen for their caring attitude to our students. We visit all our families to ensure that they are warm, comfortable and friendly places to return to after a day at school. Your host family will provide you with breakfast and dinner throughout your stay and a packed lunch at the weekend. You can choose to stay in a single room, or in a twin room which you will share with another student.
At all EC centres we can recommend a wide selection of alternative accommodation ranging from 3 to 5 star hotels or self-catering apartments ideal for a family.
EC Brighton's Junior Programme offers two accommodation options: homestay or residential accommodation.
