At St Giles, we understand that different students have different needs. The St Giles \"learner-centred\" approach to teaching English enables our teachers to meet your individual needs. Courses cover practice in all four skill areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening; however, you will find the focus of our General English programmes is on speaking and listening - generally the main requirements of today\'s modern English speaker. A typical General English programme includes: - Developing and improving your spoken English, to make you a clearer and more confident speaker - Developing your listening and comprehension skills - Learning and reviewing the basic grammatical structures of the English language - Everyday English - language that you can use in real-life situations, both spoken and written - Reading practice, and comprehension testing For all General English courses you will use a text book, which forms the basis of your study, but which is supplemented by a variety of authentic materials.

Our Accommodation Officer at Brighton will be pleased to arrange your accommodation for you. We offer homestay as well as various guest houses and hotels. We recommend homestay if: - You want to practise your English and learn about the British way of life - You want to be in a homely environment - You are looking for an economical accommodation option All our homestays are carefully selected and monitored, to ensure you will be comfortable and happy. We do not place students with the same mother tongue in the same homestay. We can arrange single or twin rooms, with breakfast only, or breakfast and dinner. All bed linen and towels are provided by your host family. We also offer a wide range of guest houses and hotels to suit your budget, which are recommended if you are looking for a more independent accommodation option.

Regular activities:  Visits to local theatres and cinemas; film nights; pub and club nights; student parties; football and tennis sessions; weekend excursions to destinations such as London, Oxford, Cambridge, Windsor, Paris and Edinburgh.
