The Location
Dublin, Ireland\'s capital is a vibrant and youthful place. It was voted Europe\'s City of Culture in 1991 and has recently enjoyed an economic boom which has pushed its population to 1.3 million (49% under 25 years of age). The city, which covers a land area of 44.4 sq. miles, recently celebrated its 1000th birthday. It has produced many famous writers and musicians - names as diverse as James Joyce and U2! There are some fine examples of Georgian architecture as well as beautiful spacious parks, such as The Phoenix Park - the largest city park in Western Europe - and St. Stephen\'s Green. Dublin is also known for its nightlife, with wall-to-wall restaurants, pubs and clubs throughout the city centre\'s Temple Bar area. As it is a relatively small and safe city, the best way to explore its network of trendy thoroughfares and cobblestone streets is on foot. What\'s more, outside Dublin you will find some of Ireland\'s most beautiful beaches, mountains and lakes.
The Course Offerings
ISI Ireland offers a variety of English courses to suit all levels and schedules and students may join a course on any Monday throughout the year. The classes are conducted in groups of up to 15 students of different nationalities and lessons are 55 minutes in duration. On arrival at the school all students are given a written and oral test and are then placed in a class appropriate to their level.
Accommodation
We highly recommend that all students stay with host families. We can personally guarantee that all our host families have been carefully selected by the school. The host family will provide: Breakfast and evening meal Monday to Friday and all meals at weekends, a single or shared bedroom as requested, a quiet study area (desk and chair).
Host families are usually located within a 45-minute commute of the city centre. Normally students speaking the same language will not be placed with the same host family.
Activities
We believe that the social and cultural component of your stay is as important as the academic one, in terms of personal development and language acquisition. ISI Ireland’s close proximity to the citycentre offers our students an abundance of social, cultural and sporting activities to choose from,
including thea tre, cinema, traditional Irish pubs and museums. We offer ISI students a full range of afternoon and e vening ac tivities, and weekend excursions.
